It is really hard to tell the difference between male and female robins as the markings are almost identical...the females breast is a slightly more orange/red than the males but this doesn't help much if you don't see a pair together which doesn't happen so often in the winter. A young robin is indistinguishable as it doesn't have a red br4east at all!!

    Obviously not very helpful...sorry.

    Never mind Tanya - I'll look out for a pair. By the way here is a photo I took ages ago of a baby robin - lots of people think they are baby thrushes but then again I knew someone who thought wagtails were baby magpies.
