Pity that they're not wind pollinated

It has to be said that as far as choosing a good time to open its blossom, our nectarine hasn't done very well. It may have been waiting for the sun to shine but surely gale force winds will not be conducive to good pollination. As a result I braved the elements with my tickling stick - just to try and give nature a helping hand.
So will we, won't we, get any nectarines - who knows?

PS Don't forget the competition to win a fire pit - more information here (I do hope you manage to take part as I am looking forward to reading your stories - I'm not judging so I can just enjoy!)

  1. I hope all the flowers haven't been blown off the tree in those strong winds.

  2. Fingers crossed for those nectarines. Surely those bees that have now started to emerge with the recent warmer weather will help out too Sue!!

    1. I am hoping the bees will emerge today, Tanya and with a shortage of flowers make a 'beeline' for these. The apricot flowers are opening too!

  5. Do the nectarine blossoms have a scent to them. I have noticed my peach blossoms do?

    1. I did this time, Elaine just to give nature a helping hand as there may not be many pollinators about at the moment.
