Last week, although posts appeared on the blog, I was only here virtually. Posts were scheduled to appear so that you didn't miss me too much and Blogger actually behaved and did as instructed. This explains why I didn't respond to your comments and also why I seemed to be neglecting your blogs! Normal service is now resumed.
So where was I? Martyn, my sister, her dog and I were spending a rather incredible week in the highlands of Scotland! On the south east bank of Loch Ness!
When Martyn booked the end of March for us to have a holiday here I envisaged snow and cold temperatures. I think he started to wonder at the wisdom of such a choice too but how lucky were we?
Warm and sunny conditions for the entire week. The album below is of the cottage, garden that we rented and the great view we had over the Loch.
If you don't like browsing other people's holiday photos then I'll understand if you leave now!
We also had some close encounters with local wildlife which I'll post about later, once I've had chance to filter through the 540 photos that I took - isn't digital great? - don't worry I don't intend to post them all on the blog!
Competition update
Thanks to everyone who entered the book competition. Two people identified all 14 vegetables correctly so their names will go into a virtual hat and the winner and answers will be announced soon. Sorry I can't send both a book but the next competition for the herb version of the book will be posted soon - well as soon as I've created it!
Lovely photos, with conditions like that I expect you had a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteWe did BW - lots of doggy walking along the tow paths of the Caledonian Canal!
DeleteI love Scotland - a beautiful country. The lack of leaves on the trees reminds me of the cold though.
ReplyDeleteAs we were there we could see the trees gradually greening Liz and it was remarkably warm for Scotland in March - 21C one day.
DeleteI guessed you'd gone away, it's not like you to not be commenting on blogs. It looks absolutely fabulous, but a little remote. You certainly picked the right week to go, I bet you couldn't believe your luck with the weather. I've never been to Scotland but hubby keeps mentioning about going, perhaps we'll get there soon. I bet there were plenty of great dog walks there too. I love taking Archie away with us, I think we walk places we wouldn't otherwise bother if we didn't have a dog with us.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't as remote as it looks Jo - we could easily walk down to Fort Augustus as you say having a dog makes you walk far more. The dog loved it? She's a really good little traveller. 8 hour journey but with three stops on the way. We'd never been as far north - the furthest before was Dumfries and Galloway.
DeleteWhat a lovely spot you chose - so glad the weather was good for you, a bit of sun makes everything better.
ReplyDeletesaw on last nights weather forecast that snow is predicted for just where we were staying with the warning that there could be some disruption! Close call eh?
DeleteI think you are very clever to get your updates done this way...I've never been quite able to work it out!!
ReplyDeleteThe photo were great and you were very lucky with the weather...glad you had a great time!
I have a smile on my face already thinking about what close encounters you could have had with the wildlife so looking forward to that post.
I used the old interface to do this Tanya so have just looked at the new one to check how it's done there (apparently the old interface is being discontinued by Blogger - shame).
DeleteSo in new interface look at the panel on the right.
Under Post Settings choose Schedule
Click next to Set Time and Date
A calendar pops up where you can select the date
In the box above the calendar you can set a time
Then click the Done button below the calendar
Et voila!
It's always nice when visitors to Scotland get good weather. Spring is beautiful up here - if a little late. Although this year all sorts of things have come on early and are now suffering in the frost.
DeleteI chuckled at the gardener's tour of the holiday cottage!
Must admit when Martyn said he had booked for March I was a little worried. If he had booked April I'd have been less so and just look what actually happened!
