Back in October I received an email from Walton's asking whether I had a favourite gardening story that I would like to share with them with a view to it
possibly being included on their blog.
As it came at a time when we were spending more time indoors, I decided to send them a story.
The event that I decided to share was when we uncovered a nest of hedgehogs back in 2005..
Then last week I received another email saying that my story had been chosen for inclusion on the Walton's blog along with stories from another five bloggers. (maybe they only received six stories).
They went on to say that they were entering the six stories in a competition that they were running, something that wasn't mentioned in the first email.
Anyway if you would like to read the stories they are published here
I don't expect to win the competition but hopefully I will receive some votes so that I'm not too embarrassed.
If you wish to vote for one of the stories - not necessarily mine there is an option to do this.
Congratulations, Sue - I've cast my vote!
ReplyDeleteThanks , Margaret. At least I won’t be Billy No Mates
DeleteWhat a lovely story, you have my vote. I had no idea they make a noise. Wonderful to have hedgehogs, I hope you have more one day.
ReplyDeleteThe babies were definitely vocal. The adults tend to make snuffling noises, CJ as Martyn experienced one dark night but that would be another story.
DeleteWell done on getting your story included. I've voted for you, I can't resist little hoglets.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. It was a treat to see the tiny hoglets.
DeleteNot just nice - practically beneficial too! You get my vote.
ReplyDeleteVery beneficial, Mal but sadly not as abundant as they once were.
DeleteI've voted your story, Sue, now is 28%. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI think the leader is streets in front, Nadezda so I’ll need a lot of votes to get anywhere near.
DeleteOh what a lovely discovery Sue. Most sadly the last couple of times I've come across hedgehogs in the garden they've been dead :( I will pop over to cast my vote.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad, Anna. We see the occasional one on the plot or in the green but not as many nowadays. The garden used to be a hedgehog superhighway.
DeleteBrilliant, a hedgehog story has got to be a vote winner!
ReplyDeleteIt would be in my books, Belinda but only for some people.
DeleteYou know I'm the hedgehog woman, you shall certainly get my vote!xxx
ReplyDeleteI do we will have to call you Mrs Tiggywinkle. I’m disappointed at how they have squeezed the four photos that I sent as part of the story into a collage. You can hardly make them out.
DeleteI have voted for yours Sue, I love our prickly friends and see too many casualties on the road. good luck
ReplyDeleteI’m disappointed with how they have displayed the photos, David. I wrote the post as I usually do and interspersed them in the story. They never specified that they would just use one photo and the collage they put together means you can hardly tell what they are. I know being old technology photos they were not brilliant but they were better than that.
DeleteThanks to everyone who voted for my story. I now have 37% of the vote with the number one story at 45% voting closes in a couple of days so I guess i’ll end up in second place which isn’t bad at all.
ReplyDeleteI think that I have 36% now so I’m going backwards
DeleteGreat story and garden experience, Sue! Got serious hedgehog envy sitting here. Obviously, you've just got my vote :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirley, I came second.
