At least the robin came to say hello

It was a typical visit to the RSPB reserve. The water birds kept their distance.
The kingfisher deserted its post just as we arrived.
The starlings gathered on the pylon ...
... but the expected murmuration was a mere series of murmurs.
Can you spot them?

The returning geese provided more of a noisy spectacle.
But at least a friendly robin came to say hellop.

    1. They are lovely little birds and the subject of many Christmas cards in the UK, Sue. They become very tame when they are used to people being around but are also very territorial and will not tolerate other robins on their patch.

  2. My resident robin is good company. I loved seeing the geese, they remind me of swans in Iceland when I never knew if it was snowing snow or snowing swans!

  4. Lovely photos of the robin. I always pause at the kingfisher fence when we visit Fairburn but I've only ever seen one there on one occasion. The starling murmurations are fascinating, aren't they?

    1. We always stop at the kingfisher screens and have been lucky occasionally. This reserve was Old Moor near Barnsley, Jo. The starlings their have been putting on spectacular murmuration displays but not when we were there. Just typical.
