  1. I've never grown ferns. I think it's fascinating how they unfurl their fronds though.

    1. They are fascinating, Jo. As well as the unfurling I find it interesting how each part of a frond resembles a whole frond etc. I think it's called a fractal design.

  3. Every year I worry that my ferns have not made it through winter and then...bang...they unfurl and look so beautiful again. My favourite, which I am not sure if related to a fern, is the gunnera. It dies back in the winter and is just a clump, then again the fronds unfurl and you end up with the humongous leaves that you can stand under. Amazing plants. XX

    1. We have a couple of gunneras that we sort of bonsai in pots but they still have huge leaves and the most unusual flower spikes!

    1. We have a few more dotted about Mark, But I'm glad that I decided to put some together in one bed.

      The reddish one will end up green. It's a pity that over the years and lots of moving them about I have lost the labels on most of them

    1. I did consider logs, Liz but then there is very little room once the ferns are fully grown.
