I think it is at this time of year that you can really appreciate the seeds heads on various types of plants and grasses. We don't plant ornamental grasses on the plot but who needs to when wild grasses give this sort of show.
And it isn't just the grasses that have interesting seed heads. Below are seeds heads from evening primrose candytuft, buddleia and I think some type of weed! Maybe I should chop the weed seed head off rather than admire it!
I think my favourite seed heads are those of honesty. I remember my grandma dried them and had them in vases in the house.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jo I too remember peeling back the honesty seed cases to reveal the silvery inside.
DeleteThe candytuft seed heads in my photo reminded me a bit of miniature honesty seed heads
I rather like watching the tops of the nettles sway over the garden fence. No doubt scattering seeds in my garden as they do so.
ReplyDeleteBut the butterflies will love you, Jo
