Was this recently? Looks like a good weather day! Thankfully, hopefully, a few of those coming this week.a
ReplyDeleteIt was a week ago, Deborah
DeleteWhat a beautiful place. You took some fabulous photos.
ReplyDeleteWe have been visiting regularly as it is local, Lisa and at the moment we are asked to stay in our local area
DeleteLooks a lovely place for a walkies, I bet Ruby enjoyed it :)
ReplyDeleteRuby does enjoy her walks there, Karen,
DeleteYou are so lucky to have such a beautiful place within walking distance. We have the beach near us, but to get to woods and lakes we would need to get in the car
ReplyDeleteWe do need to go in the car, Steve but it is still in the Wakefield area.
DeleteWe wouldn't be able to get away with using a car around here, being by the seaside the police are a bit more strict : All the best - Steve
ReplyDeleteSounds like your police are making up their own rules, Steve. As I understand it you can travel as long as your journey takes less time than the time spent at the location having arrived.
DeleteIt's the seaside Sue, all the car parks are closed and it's basically no driving for pleasure, all the tourist web sites have 'stay away' notices on them. I don't know what the rules are, we just walk or bike everywhere for fun : All the best - Steve
DeleteSue, I see you had a good time walking in such a wonderful place. Spring is there. I envy you. Here it is +4 degrees and the snow is melting. Your photos are great!
ReplyDeleteGood weekend!
Thank you Nadezda - you too
DeleteI actually just looked up the rules and to call them vague is an understatement, basically you can travel to a place of exercise within your local area, local area isn't defined so I think you could reasonably assume it's your county, since that's the scope boundary within which local rules might differ from place to place. There's no mention of the time of travel, the distance of travel, or the amount of time you spend exercising. There is explicit mention of exercising in the grounds of a local heritage site though, so you are covered there as well. It seems therefore that people are allowed to travel to the seaside according to the rules. Apparently the PM has been under pressure to define what 'local area' actually means, as some people seem to be interpreting it as the country, while others - like me - assumed it was anywhere you could get to without using a car/public transport! : All the best - Steve
ReplyDeleteThe bit about spending no longer driving to a location than spending time there was something the PM said at one of the daily briefings in response to a question. I guess the problem of sticking within a county could be difficult as Yorkshire is a huge county and we wouldn't consider driving an hour to a location in another part of Yorkshire The furthest that we have traveled in 10 miles to my sister's house as she is in our bubble. We have only really visited Nostell during lockdown and then we have to book a slot as entry numbers are restricted. It is all vague. During the first lockdown we were unsure of traveling by car to the allotment which is three miles away from home so I contacted the police and was told that was OK. At that time there were few vehicles on the road unlike this 'lockdown'.
DeleteI do agree that travel within a county is too much, but it's seems to be the only boundary to wrap around local that has any meaningful definition, given that no time or distance is specified. Given the PM's statement I guess I could drive to the Lake District and hike for a day, but I suppose that's qualified by the recommendation to only exercise for a couple of hours. Of course by the 2 hour metric half the people on our allotment site are breaking that guideline every day. I walked home from the shops along the beach today and it was heaving with people, for some inexplicable reason the car parks are open and full to overflowing. I must admit I despair that this will ever come to an end if we get a sunny spring! : All the best - Steve
DeleteIt's been lovely to have a bit of respite from the dreariness of February, it's been glorious this week. We're so lucky to have such wonderful places to walk.
ReplyDeleteWe are indeed, Jo.
