Two post in one day - sorry but I couldn't add this to my Wordless Wednesday post and it was something well worth sharing!
Yesterday was host to one of the eagerly anticipated events of the year. Our first picking and eating of freshly ripe strawberries.
Not many I know but plenty more to come.
Just hoping we don't get a heavy downpour to spoil things!
Mmmmmmm yummy :o)
ReplyDeleteThey were yummy
DeleteOh yum!!!! Pass me the cream....drools....xxxx
ReplyDeleteThey didn't need cream, Snowbird
DeleteThey look delicious...I wonder if the weed control helped them ripen that little bit quicker as the sun reflected back onto the strawberries?? I guess the only way to know would be to ask others at your allotment if they have ripe strawberries yet.
ReplyDeleteI think the control would have to be white to do that Tanya, but it may warm things up. These were from an early variety of strawberry too and for that variety are a bit late.
DeleteThe first strawberry of the season is such an event. I've had a taste of our first strawberry, but only a taste as daughter got to it first.
ReplyDeleteI remember this, Jo you were just too slow!
DeleteWhether it's just one or many Strawberries have got to be one of the most delicious tastes of the season.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Rooko - hope yesterday's heavy rain didn't spoil the ones still to fully ripen!
DeleteGoodness - they're huge missus - once again you've out-strawberry'd me.
ReplyDeleteThey are 'earlies' though Elaine! I'm guessing all the rain of the last couple of days will have squished some!
DeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteThey were, Dewberry
