A tentative start to the new season

It's been another of those weeks when we seem to have had a diary full of appointments.

Monday I had my follow-up appointment with the dermatologist when I thought I would find out whet my mysterious rash was. This was not to be. Apparently the biopsy results reported things that my rash definitely wasn't but not what it actually was! I was told that it had ruled out anything to be concerned about so I suppose that's something. I didn't have a single patch of rash to show and so I have been given an open appointment which will last 12 months during which time I can contact the clinic directly rather than needing a GPs referral. Of course the day after a couple of small patches of rash suddenly appeared. The cream that I have seems to knock it back and so for now I will see how things go.

Martyn has another hospital appointment and the dressing on his nose has, at last, been removed. He is happy not to see a patch of white in his peripheral vision.

Our other appointment was a visit from the hairdresser to sort out everyone's hair. Ruby enjoys the visit as the hairdresser comes bearing doggy treats.

Although my shoulder is now fully recovered, Martyn still has trouble with his back and so we still haven't made it to the allotment. It's fortunate that we managed to prepare quite a lot of beds in autumn so at least when we want to start planting we will have beds ready to

  1. I got a rash after we got Ella because she had to put her face against mine. I went to a dermatologist and she said that wasn't why. I was flabbergasted... Then she had me try all sorts of stuff. I ended up with hives and sunburn. Finally I googled rashes and saw oatmeal water works. Just fab the area and let it dry. It worked. This summer I got bit by ants and developed a rash. The doctor started trying to prescribe stuff and I remembered about the oatmeal water. It worked again. Sure was cheaper than anything the professionals prescribed.

    1. At least at our age we get free prescriptions Bonnie but I don’t want to use too much steroid ointment. Do you make the oatmeal water yourself?

  2. I've never been able to get an amaryllis to flower a second time, they throw up plenty of leaves but never a flower. I've given up trying now. We had a blue tit doing exactly the same thing, it kept coming back and was there for a few days.

    1. It took two years to build up the bulb, Jo but we didn’t feed it just kept watering. I noticed two buds are popping up.

  3. I’ve seen a lot of pictures of pulmonaria recently, but I don’t think any are growing on-site which is a shame. I think the wildlife would appreciate some of that blue in these dull months.
Your meals look nice, I still can’t resist adding tomatoes/paprika so my meals always look red; I fancy a stew that looks like yours!
