Lovely photos. I was there on Monday and took that shot of the heathers too. However, I was disappointed not to see more flowers in bloom as there is a better display in our local park. I always think Harrogate is a couple of degrees colder than us. Still it blew away the cobwebs!
ReplyDeleteIt is colder there - on Wednesday I saw photos it with a covering of snow. There looked to be plenty of bulbs that will soon be flowering.
DeleteIt's such a fabulous display of heather at this time of year, it grabs you as soon as you walk through the entrance.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a photo does the heather bed justice, Jo
DeleteGreat photos, as always. Although Autumn is my favourite time of year, I do love late Winter and Spring as the brightly bold colours burst forth against the contrast of bare trees and stark ground.
ReplyDeleteSpring is my favourite. Deborah. Lots of fresh green and everywhere full of promise.
DeleteAfter I retire I'm hoping to get more opportunity to visit my local RHS property - Wisley. Their places are always so immaculately maintained. Hopefully during this month some of those bare trees are going start showing some green.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day we will get to Wisley, Mark
DeleteA lovely set of photos, Mike & I have promised ourselves an RHS membership this year x
ReplyDeleteAs well as the main garden's there are the partner gardens, Jo. Some have reduced entrance fees to RHS members and some are free in certain dates.
DeleteBy the looks of it you chose the perfect day for a visit Sue.
ReplyDeleteWe did but it was cold, Angie
DeleteSue I liked your photos, especially the first one and went to RHS Garden Harlow Carr site. Is it near Leeds or York? I will plan my visit there in the next time I'm in UK.
ReplyDeleteI'd say nearer Leeds (north of Leeds) than York, Nadezda but the nearest place is Harrogate.
DeleteThe waves of colour in that first photo are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI bet clipping over the heather bed after flowering is a major task, Margaret
DeleteLooks lovely with that blue sky. I'm off for a visit there next wednesday so hoping the weather picks up
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather is good for your visit Annie, we have had plenty of visits cut short due to rain. At least when you are members it doesn't feel too bad as there is no extra cost involved.
DeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet.
DeleteThose heathers are to die for, How lovely to see the crocus out and a blue sky!!!xxx
ReplyDeleteI always think that a clear blue sky shows bare trees off a treat, Dina.
DeleteThe scenery photos are so beautiful with blue sky! Look at those flowers! So lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you Malar
DeleteIt is good to see that Harlow Carr has still got its heather beds. Is the stand of Silver Birches a new planting, I don't remember them from our visit two years ago. I think it is a wonderful atmospheric garden.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is new, Brian but know you will have me trawling through old photos. I doubt it would stand out as much if the trees were in leaf.
DeleteOh how fabulous Sue. Those heathers make such a vibrant splash of colour. We've only visited Harlow Carr once. It was late summer if my memory serves me well. I'd like to return.
ReplyDeleteWe have visited at various times of the year Anna. If you are interested photos taken at different times are herein these photo albums
