How lovely, I haven't seen one in the garden for a couple of years now. I'm sure there will still be some about x
ReplyDeleteWe often come across them on the plot, Jo.
DeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteThey are very cute little things, Lou.
DeleteHe's lovely, how nice to know that you have wildlife like this around.
ReplyDeleteMartyn spotted it when he was rotavating, CJ and took him to a place of safety. Or is it a her I'm not sure
DeleteOh well captured Sue. They used to be a regular allotment visitor up to a couple of years ago :(
ReplyDeleteWe often find then when digging, Anna. They seem to like to hide under the soil.
DeleteWonderful. I've only seen that one near my pond a while ago, I've never seen one on the plot.
ReplyDeleteThey are quite common on the plot, Jo. They like to have water nearby in order to breed but most of the time they stay on dry land as long as they can find somewhere damp to hide.
DeletePresumably that is a Newt? - a "Smooth Newt" or something??
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed, Mark.
DeleteWhat a lovely creature to have around.
ReplyDeleteWe love finding them, Angie.
DeleteI have never seen like that before
ReplyDeleteThey don't like it too hot and dry, Endah I wouldn't think you would have them in your country.
DeleteA plot near mine has a pond, so we have a plentiful supply of yellow frogs (as well as toads) and I've seen the occasional newt sheltering in the autumn. An oasis of wildlife in an area where the suburban gardens are very rapidly being block-paved or tarmac-ed over for parking.
ReplyDeleteWe get lots of frogs and toads on the plot too,S and D. One or two plots have small ponds and there are also some large fishing lakes not far from the site. We have also had ducks paying us a visit.
DeleteWhat an honour! I love wildlife that drops in, even better if it takes up residence.
ReplyDeleteWe get quite a bit of wildlife on the plot, Debs not all of it as welcome as this little thing.
DeleteIve never had such a good view of a newt, they always hid at the bottom of the pond, great shot.
ReplyDeleteWe find plenty on the plot, Janet.
DeleteFabulous. Can't remember right now but you do have a couple of log piles where it can shelter, don't you?
ReplyDeleteWe do have some log piles, Jayne. We also have piles of straw and overgrown corners where they can hide too. Often though we find them hiding under stones or in the soil.
DeleteAre those lizard? Never seen them before!
ReplyDeleteIt is our a newt, Malar which is an amphibian like a frog are a toad.
DeleteDelightful ! Its things like this that keep me cheerful in my garden : )
