I've seen dianthus in your plot, Sue. Am I right? it's so big now.I also noticed how clean your plot is, I should have to clean up mine.
ReplyDeleteIf you mean sweet William are dianthus barbatus then yes you are right Nadezda. We planted them last year to flower this year. We grow them every year for cut flowers.
DeleteHonestly, your plot is a thing of beauty, it's so nice to see such a well tended allotment. Worth all of the time and effort you put in. Not long now until it's time to get the seeds in. This is the year I'm determined to crack carrots.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit the weed control fabric has made a huge difference CJ. Good luck with the carrots the main thing is to cover them to stop the carrot fly destroying any crop you manage to grow.
DeleteSo much potential. It's an exciting time of year. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that at the height of the growing season those beds will be absolutely full to bursting Jessica.
DeleteIt's so exciting, your plot looks extremely tidy!
ReplyDeleteThe general view looks tidy Jo but if you look closely there are areas in need of some attention.
DeleteI love how you edge all of you beds. It must take a long time to keep that up.
ReplyDeleteWe use the strimmer to edge most of the bed, Daphne then each has a turn in rotation at being edged with the edging shears
DeleteYou look all ready for the new gardening season, just a matter of sowing those seeds now.
ReplyDeleteWe have got one or two lots of seeds already sown Jo but haven't started in earnest just yet.
DeleteTidy plots appeal to me too! You pruned your Buddleia very severely, didn't you? I haven't been quite so harsh with mine, because it is still immature.
ReplyDeleteI always prune the buddleias very hard Mark. It encourages the plant to grow bushy rather than leggy and also encourages flowers low down on the bush.
DeleteIt's all looking really good and ready to go. A tidy and organised plot is much less daunting and much more encouraging to grow things in. Recently we took on an extra adjoining piece of vacant allotment (turned down by everyone for years) that had to be reclaimed from waist high couch grass, dead tree, rotten shed, collapsed greenhouse and piles of other accumulated trash. It's a good reminder of what happens if you don't stay on top of things - especially when you're feeling a bit lazy and could easily be distracted by other things.
ReplyDeleteWhen we took our plots they were head high in weeds, docks, thistles, nettles and bramble and any other nasties you can name, We also had the remains of a shed, half rotten carpets and no end of TV aerials along with other assorted debris, If you are interested then see this page on my website
DeleteIt's wonderful watching things come alive after a long winter! You have a beautiful garden spot.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to mention that I enjoy reading your blog because I'm always learning something!
Thank you for the time you spend "educating" on your blog!
Thank you for the lovely comments Juliet I'm glad you find The blog useful I guess it's a case of once a teacher always a teacher. :)
DeleteWallflowers already? That's early!
ReplyDeleteThere are only a couple on the the wallflowers flowering Patsy strangely they were the ones that didn't grow very well when we planted them
DeleteThose primroses are creating a pretty drift, and is that sweet williams I see? All is looking pristine and ready to go, how you keep on top of it all amazes me!xxx
ReplyDeleteWe started with just one or two primroses and the rest came from seed collected from them, Dina
DeleteI love that little row of Primula. Very pretty. Good to see the plot raring to go Sue.
ReplyDeleteI love them too Angie
DeleteThe plot looks good, very neat and well worth all the hard work.
