Throughout April our concern has been the lack of anything resembling a dry
spell of weather. However, the latter half of the month has been drier and

I love the way it keeps its tail on the back. It's a real, perfect squirrel :)
ReplyDeleteIi must keep its back warm, Dewberry
DeleteAww what a lovely little squirrel. We have a few about here. Not in the garden though, yet!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that this little fella/girl wasn't in our garden, Jo - we just have greys. It lived in Cumbria.
DeleteI was going to comment and say, didn't think you had many red squirrels ;-) but your last comment said this one was in Cumbria. Looks just like ours..running all over the hard snow thinking it is spring. Wait now..is it? ))) You wouldn't think so, half a foot of fresh soft snow last night. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteThat's where the envy comes in, Bren!
DeleteI also looked and thought red squirrel,a shame we don't get them further south,as usual great photos
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame Flowerlady. There is a reserve in Lancashire at Formby that is populated by reds though.
DeleteSo lovely to see the red squirrels, we only have the grey type here. Have a great day. Chel x
ReplyDeleteSo do we, Chel - it was a treat to see the reds.
DeleteWe have plenty of grey squirrels here too, but no reds. Even if the photos are not taken in your own garden they are nice photos of a very attractive subject, Sue.
ReplyDeleteIt was a garden in Cumbria so it was garden related, Mark - which is my excuse.
DeleteLovely photos, and I'm so glad you were able to see one of 'our' Reds at the weekend :}
ReplyDeleteThey are such beautiful creatures and quite funny to watch, we're lucky to be able to recognise different individuals. The only things which saddens me is the expectation that they will become extinct in my lifetime. The greys get closer and closer every year and once they move into an area, our gorgeous Reds will be out-competed for food and shelter within a couple of years.
We were lucky Bilbo - thanks for booking the little fella/girl so he/she made an appearance exactly on cue.
DeleteI have heard of a few sightings of reds further south so all may not be doom and gloom for them - fingers crossed. But you are so lucky to have them
The only reds that I have seen have been in captivity at Pensthorpe. Pretty little things and great shots Sue
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty Elaine. I have seen some at Formby some years ago where some of the reds are black!
DeleteHow gorgeous! A real red squirrel! I so wish we had more!!! I've never, ever seen one in the wild, despite growing up in Cumbria. I've seen a few at Kilnsey Park where the owner breeds them as 'pets'. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky to see it Anna. A couple of years ago we spent a week's holiday in Cumbria and didn't see one and then when we visited Bilbo one arrived as we did!
DeleteSo adorable.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to watch then burying the nuts they are hiding Diana.
