What a beautiful sunny day. Happy birthday to Martyn, I hope you both enjoyed your day out. I had a morning with the eldest on New Year's Day at Slimbridge which was lovely, despite a touch of flu. It's been flooded in the past few days and there are so many birds there at the moment, it's really amazing.
ReplyDeleteMost of the birds that we saw were very far away CJ, We seem to have that effect. At least a Slimbridge many birds get up close and personal - sometimes too much so. It was cold but very sunny and we enjoyed a good walk although at times when facing the sun we couldn’t see where we were going.
DeleteWonderful photos, Sue. Belated happy birthday to Martyn - it looks like you had a perfect winter day for your visit!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely day, Sarah which is what made us decide to go. It’s very close to us so we can make a last minute decision/
DeleteHappy Birthday to Martyn. What a lovely day out to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteYes the sun came out especially, Deborah.
DeleteLooks like a very peaceful place - A very happy birthday to Martyn & I hope that you both enjoyed the day :)
ReplyDeleteIt was quiet, Margaret in spite of the car park being packed. Lot’s of visitors but plenty of space.
DeleteHappy Birthday Martyn! That looks like a beautiful place and a lovely day for a celebration.
ReplyDeleteIt is and was, Michelle.
DeleteGreat photos. Hope Martyn enjoyed his treat and you took a flask and cake.We went a couple of weeks ago but we could face the cold! Have you been to RSPB St Aidan's, which is just next door?
ReplyDeleteWe were only there for a couple of hours or so, L hence no refreshments as we wanted to make the most of the limited light. We have been to St Aidans a couple of times and passed it on the way. Cars were parked outside on the roadside there.
DeleteLovely photos and lovely weather Sue. Happy belated birthday, Martin!
ReplyDeleteI've watched on TV it was +1 C in London. Was this cold weather in your place? We have snow but the river isn't frozen.
Happy weekend!
Yes it was cold here too Nadezda. No snow here either.
DeleteOh it's must encouraging to see rhubarb shoots :)
ReplyDeleteVery encouraging, Anna
DeleteOh I'm not sure what happened there Sue with my above comment:) I was convinced that I was replying to your last post about your plot. Obviously you didn't see rhubarb shoots on this trip but beautiful birds. Belated birthday greetings to Martyn. As a fellow January baby I know that it can be hard to fit in an outdoor trip to celebrate on the day. It looks as if you found a perfect treat.
ReplyDeleteIt’s also difficult buying birthday cards for January babies., Anna. Too few birds really and many of those were only dots in the distance but we had an enjoyable walk.
DeleteA very seasonal post. I can feel the weather and my eyes squinting against the sun.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what it was like, Lucy. Even with sunglasses there were times when I couldn’t see where I was going!
DeleteWonderful photos, as always! Happy birthday to Martyn.xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dina
