I am getting quite a lot of spam. It is not published and is just deleted. I have stopped sifting through it and just delete any that ends up in my spam folder in one go so I am sorry if one of your messages is deleted accidentally.
Comments to posts over five days old are all moderated.
Happy Blog anniversary, Sue. You have achieved a lot in that time, and I'm sure you're not finished yet! I'm planning on retiring from work next year, so I expect my "workload" to rise too...
ReplyDeleteWhen is gardening ever finished, Mark? I'm sure you'll find plenty to do in retirement.
DeleteHappy blogoversary. I'm not working now either (for the last year and a half) and like you somehow my time just disappears. It always amazes me.
ReplyDeleteI guess time is a bit like empty cupboards, Daphne the more you have the more you fill.
DeleteMany congratulations Sue, that is quite some achievement!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jessica.
DeleteMany congratulations. It takes staying power, not only to keep up with allotment and gardening activities for that period but also keeping up with the blog, and you do blog very regularly. I went from working full time before children to part time when I had them, and then stopping work all together in 2010 and I now I don't know how I managed to find time to work at all, there's always something eating in to my time. Your summer house is fabulous, it's not surprising that it's well used. I always enjoy your posts so I'll be sticking with you for some time yet.
ReplyDeleteBefore we finished work we didn't really keep up with the garden, Jo. It has been much improved since we retired. As for the plot that wasn't always kept as well as it is now either. During times when we were harvesting the weeds just grew and grew. We had to turn a blind eye to quite a few things.
DeleteHappy blogaversary, nine years is an amazing achievement, very well done you. You've achieved so much in the plot and garden as well, the hard work has paid off. The summerhouse is gorgeous, I can well imagine that you use it regularly. I was running my hands over a nice wooden cabin at the garden centre this afternoon, (not in the same league as yours, but very nice anyway) and dreaming. Maybe one day...
ReplyDeleteWhen we went to order the summerhouse, CJ, our sights were set on a very different model. When we arrived at the garden centre they had a very good deal on summerhouses so we ummed and arred and plumped for this one. We haven't regretted it.
DeleteHappy blogaversary! Nine years is quite an achievement.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rachel
DeleteNine years - wow - quite a feat! Here's to the next nine! x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane. I wonder what the next nine years will bring? Maybe its best not to think too deeply about that.
DeleteHappy Blogaversary!! I have only been following your blog for a very short period of time and love reading it.... I have only just recently retired and have a lot more time to start planning and planting a potager garden full of fruit trees, vegetables and companion herbs and flowers. You,Mark Willis and Daphne Gould have been wonderful role models and have learnt so much. At 67yrs of age it's never too late to learn. Thank you for a wonderful BLOG!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Heather it's good to know that you enjoy what I write. I'm in good company if I am classed with Mark and Daphne. You are so right it's never too late to learn. Maybe your next step is to write your own blog.
DeleteWell, nine years--what a feat. And I just only recently found you--and am so glad I did.
ReplyDeleteThe transformation on your plot has been amazing.
And hubby has been retired NINE years, and still can't figure out how he had time to work. There aren't enough hours in the day.............
(and it's GLORIOUS!)
:)
I am glad that you found me too, Sue. I do agree that not having to go to work each day is fantastic.
DeleteCongratulations, Sue! You have accomplished so much, both in the garden and in your blog - you are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I seem to have far less time then I did when I worked full time. I had a neighbor that retired recently and she was saying she had no idea what she was going to do with all her free time as she wasn't really interested in much of anything in terms of a hobby. I can't even imagine what that would be like as I seem to be interested in practically everything!
I know people just like your neighbour, Margaret. Retirement must be very hard for them. Martyn and I both decided to take early retirement a few years ago and retired on exactly the same day. It was the right decision
DeleteJust to add my heartfelt thanks for keeping us posted for nine years. Martyn and yourself are tireless models of good practice - without the slightest whif of condescension. That's something I will continue to treasure.
ReplyDeletethank you, Mal. We can all learn something from one another can't we? You are a good source of inspiration for exotic breadmaking. Now if only we had more time. :-)
DeleteBrilliant! Great to see the before and after pics!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Belinda. Finding some photos from 2006 was a challenge, we didn't take as many photographs back then
DeleteCongratulations on your 9 year blogaversary! You've come a long way ~~~ but remember, a gardener's work is never done! Still, you have a lovely summer house in which to sit and sip a celebratory tipple while admiring all you have achieved.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased I found your blog, can't remember how now, you are such an inspiration to me. Here's to the next nine years and then some!
It's good that gardening is never really completed though isn't it Debs? We have borders now that we did a few years ago that need starting again are at least renovating.
DeleteCongratualtions on 9 yrs of blogging, Sue :-) As I have said many times, your blog is a serious inspiration in growing fruit and veg. Your commitment to regular posting takes some beating too. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shirley.
DeleteWow! Nine years, brilliant! Your blog has obviously gone from strength to strength as has your garden and allotment! I have certainly enjoyed every post and learn a lot to boot...long may you continue!xxx
ReplyDeleteI first started writing my blog as I had to learn how to blog for my job, Dina. I had to decide on something that I could blog about and so my gardening blog was born.
DeleteMany congratulations on those nine years of blogging Sue and long may your blog bloom! I think that once you stop working you live at a slower pace hence the relative lack of time :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anna. When we first gave up work we treated the allotment as our job and went there every day. Then when we realised what we were doing we cut back and did lots of other things too but I don't really think our way of life has slowed down its just very different.
DeleteCongrats on 9 years blogging! I can't remember how I found yours originally but I always enjoy your posts, I like the variety of veg and wildlife topics, and it's helped me find lots of other excellent blogs too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lou I'm glad you enjoy the posts.
DeleteThat's a great achievement 9 years blogging, and as some other people have commented. Its hard enough to keep on top of a garden and an allotment but a blog as well. It takes dedication but I'm sure you've made lots of great new blogging friends. Here's to many more blog posts.
ReplyDeleteThere are two of us, Annie and we don't have to go to work every day which helps. Yes I have 'met' some lovely people through blogging.
