one of my all time favourites we left one behind when we moved, conditions on a windy coastal bungalow estate not ideal the wind would be too cold
ReplyDeleteOnce the winds get up the flowers don't last long David. I can't see the plant appreciating cold, salt ladened, winds.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe tree will look spectacular when more buds burst, Jessica
DeleteVery nice. Did you take one photo a day or does it go from bud to bloom over a longer period than that?
ReplyDeleteYes one photo each day, Jo which I will continue to do as the flower fades.
DeleteHow lovely to see it open. It happened rather quickly too. Gorgeous pix.xxx
ReplyDeleteAs with all flowering trees it is over far too quickly too, Snowbird
DeleteBeautiful, I love magnolias. Always breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteThey are, CJ
DeleteOh what a beautiful journey from bud to bloom Sue. Our next door neighbour has a large magnolia which has been planted most considerately allowing us to enjoy the blooms too. Thanks so much for your comments regarding butterbur on my recent post. I'm still investigating :)
ReplyDelete'Borrowed' garden plants are a bonus, Anna
DeleteSo beautiful to see the Magnolia bloom opening slowly from day to day.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting very wet at the moment Janneke which will spoil the blooms.
DeleteThank you Endah
ReplyDeleteThe next door neighbours had a magnificent 40 plus year old Magnolia × soulangeana 'Nigra' chopped down to make way for their new extension about six weeks ago. I have still not got over it ...........sacrilege!
ReplyDeleteHow heartbreaking, Rick. Couldn't they have built around it :)
DeleteLovely slideshow! I just looove seeing the magnolias blooming at this time of year - they're so beautiful. We don't have one but lots of others in our neighbourhood do! :-)
ReplyDeleteAll the joy and none of the bother, Naomi.
