DeleteMy camellia is the same as yours - I think we are going to need a lot more warmth to make them flower, don't you.
ReplyDeleteI do Elaine. I think some plants have suffered though lack of daylight too. The dark cold days give the wrong signals! I wonder if we will get flowers or whether the buds will just drop off!

DeleteThat is an amazing difference Sue. My Camelia is kept in the polytunnel and the buds are just now stating to open.
ReplyDeleteThis Spring has been a challenge everywhere and plants that should be flourishing by now are barely poking through the ground. At this rate the Spring flowers will be blooming in Summer - that'll be weird lol.

You will beat us 'southerners' to flowers Linda. Do you watch Beechgrove Gardens which I think starts this week. I've seen snowy previews on Facebook.
DeleteI keep a weekly diary and it is saying the same thing,I had been given a Camelia as a present in a pot and was thinking it was late,reckon I will put it in the greenhouse rather than loose the flowers

ReplyDeletethat is really amazing. Around here, the camelia's are on the tail end of their blooms. The heavy rains this weekend will likely knock all the rest down. You have had quite a cold winter and now spring. I hope it warms up for you! Cheers, Jenni
Normally the problem is whether the flowers are frosted or not Jenni - not that they won't open at all. WE're hoping for a better April.

ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how photos either confirm or deny memories, Lee. They certainly show that this year is exceptional. I hope it stays an exceptional year rather than the norm for future years.
DeleteYep, it has not been a kind Spring when it comes to flowering plants. I think we are going to have some strange flowering companions as everything springs into life at once.
ReplyDeleteUnless the spring flowers just give up, janet. It could end up like a flower show couldn't it where things are coaxed into flower at the wrong time delivering planting combinations that are impossible to achieve.
