Fortunately they kept fairly still when I took the photos and then started wriggling away for the video - I think the first instinct was to hide and then to get out of the light!

I'm afraid not Barbara as they are vegetarians. Apparently they usually eat decaying material. They are supposed to be attracted to crops when it is dry but it is hardly that at the moment!Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-71853221548225627362010-10-18T14:20:08.299+00:002010-10-18T14:20:08.299+00:00Is there any hope that they might do damage to the...Is there any hope that they might do damage to the slugs??Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16956948481990170675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-39261136849492825682010-10-18T14:08:09.679+00:002010-10-18T14:08:09.679+00:00I had these on my potatoes last year and tried to ...I had these on my potatoes last year and tried to photograph them to get some help identifying them...my photos were really bad though and I had no idea what to look for on google so i am glad the mystery has been solved. haven't had much of a problem with them this year though so hope you don't next year either!!allotments4youhttp://www.allotments4you.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-87365524027995036132010-10-18T13:37:58.050+00:002010-10-18T13:37:58.050+00:00Neither had we ~fer so far they were only in one p...Neither had we ~fer so far they were only in one potato although some of the others had slug damage. As these potatoes are quite large we should be able to cut any damage away and still have lots to use and we also have lots more dug earlier.Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-79650536760074285332010-10-18T13:35:18.497+00:002010-10-18T13:35:18.497+00:00Wow, i had never seen centipedes like those.
