As for strawberries, I'm still not sure about trying them in my small garden, though I do have a bed lined with alpine strawberries grown from seed.Janet/Plantaliscioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15605580157193047780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-91980285032576950232014-04-02T20:08:39.199+00:002014-04-02T20:08:39.199+00:00It is all looking very promising, lets hope there ...It is all looking very promising, lets hope there will be no wind, that always seems to blow my fruit off. Our honeyberries are flowering too - I read somewhere that it might be worth taking a brush to the flowers (although we have so many pollinators buzzing around at the moment, it hardly seems worth it), but since there are so few flowers, I thought I would get my pollinating paintbrush out just in case. Now you have reminded me, I will be checking the apricot for signs of fruit tomorrow. I have the stalks with the leaves and I also have one large stalk which was producing a flower. I cut the flower off, but I don't know if I was supposed to. Do I need to take the whole large stalk out as well? My plant looks rather ridiculous now with the flowerless large stalk in the middle. I didn't get on at all with everbearing ones, so I've just put in Cambridge Favourites and Honeoye. Hopefully they will be successive (Honeoye first). I don't know how our strawberries will do this year, it's hard to know if they're newish plants or old ones.
