In a way during a time of possible shortage the stuff that we grow must help so telling us to stop growing potatoes and buy them from stores seems a bit strange. I suppose you could also say that increasing use of stronger industrial chemicals has created superbugs too and also maybe blight (as a living organism) has built up some resistance.Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-39808989214535279702012-10-25T05:37:00.290+00:002012-10-25T05:37:00.290+00:00Oh I would like to munch those juicy berry while u...Oh I would like to munch those juicy berry while using my brain to work out my research data.Malay-Kadazan girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09692400837667241873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-53632651015874576962012-10-24T18:39:08.523+00:002012-10-24T18:39:08.523+00:00Those carrots look brilliant, good work! I may have to scour your blog for advice!

I've read about the whole potato farmers vs amateurs thing elsewhere. It's an interesting one; no-one would deny the virtues of growing your own, but I sympathise with farmers, whose livelihoods are at stake. I have to say, some allotmenteers on our plots have had blight but not seemed to have been in any rush to "bag it, bin it, burn it", leaving the haulms to rot away for days and even weeks. Not good.

If allotmenteers would like to give our creed a better name among farmer-folk, you can sign up to be an official blight monitor at the Potato Council website here: http://www.potato.org.uk/publications/gardeners-advice-potato-blightLeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03606029898571396802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-65047199176984323062012-10-23T09:01:03.184+00:002012-10-23T09:01:03.184+00:00The onions were very small but very welcome, Malar...The onions were very small but very welcome, Malar.Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-84782297438397018252012-10-23T09:00:06.581+00:002012-10-23T09:00:06.581+00:00Can you taste the joy too, VGCan you taste the joy too, VGSue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-16741465803352871292012-10-23T08:58:50.547+00:002012-10-23T08:58:50.547+00:00I think the carrots appreciated our bizarre weathe...I think the carrots appreciated our bizarre weather, CM some are big enough for a helping for two.Sue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-43988848895019389172012-10-23T08:57:56.101+00:002012-10-23T08:57:56.101+00:00We may not have parsnips below ground, LizWe may not have parsnips below ground, LizSue Garretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164518448098182276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33294007.post-80609329442650655092012-10-23T05:14:02.716+00:002012-10-23T05:14:02.716+00:00That's very good harvest of carrot and onion! ...That's very good harvest of carrot and onion!
