A few snaps during bird count

  1. Oh I do love sparrows, they're so great to watch. They look like they're having fun in the bath. I mentioned to Martyn that we had a green woodpecker in the garden yesterday - the first we've ever seen there. Of course I didn't manage a picture, but it was amazing to see, and the closest I've ever seen one. There is one down at the allotment frequently but he usually flies of shouting if he spots me approaching. Great starling photos too, they really are fabulous seen close up.

    1. The only green woodpecker we have seen was in the garden of a gite in France, CJ. starlings are beautiful birds even if they are unruly.

    1. It was a case of trying to get the best shots thar I could through the diamond leaded window, Deborah. Lots were discarded.

  5. Loved the pics, especially the sparrows in the bird bath and those starlings. I miss the starlings, don't see them here very often.xxx

    1. We had a period when the starlings went missing, Dina and they still don't appear in the numbers that they used to.

  6. I love to watch the birds in our bird bath, the last picture with the sparrow looking at the camera is a gem.
