Harlow Carr - February

  1. Lovely photos. I was there on Monday and took that shot of the heathers too. However, I was disappointed not to see more flowers in bloom as there is a better display in our local park. I always think Harrogate is a couple of degrees colder than us. Still it blew away the cobwebs!

    1. It is colder there - on Wednesday I saw photos it with a covering of snow. There looked to be plenty of bulbs that will soon be flowering.

  2. It's such a fabulous display of heather at this time of year, it grabs you as soon as you walk through the entrance.

  3. Great photos, as always. Although Autumn is my favourite time of year, I do love late Winter and Spring as the brightly bold colours burst forth against the contrast of bare trees and stark ground.

  4. After I retire I'm hoping to get more opportunity to visit my local RHS property - Wisley. Their places are always so immaculately maintained. Hopefully during this month some of those bare trees are going start showing some green.

  7. Sue I liked your photos, especially the first one and went to RHS Garden Harlow Carr site. Is it near Leeds or York? I will plan my visit there in the next time I'm in UK.

    1. I'd say nearer Leeds (north of Leeds) than York, Nadezda but the nearest place is Harrogate.

    1. I hope the weather is good for your visit Annie, we have had plenty of visits cut short due to rain. At least when you are members it doesn't feel too bad as there is no extra cost involved.

  12. It is good to see that Harlow Carr has still got its heather beds. Is the stand of Silver Birches a new planting, I don't remember them from our visit two years ago. I think it is a wonderful atmospheric garden.

    1. I don't think it is new, Brian but know you will have me trawling through old photos. I doubt it would stand out as much if the trees were in leaf.

  13. Oh how fabulous Sue. Those heathers make such a vibrant splash of colour. We've only visited Harlow Carr once. It was late summer if my memory serves me well. I'd like to return.
