    1. I would have expected those ferns to have died right back by now, Jo.

  3. Is that a cordyline with berries? I've never seen that before. I had a beautiful cordyline which I'd grown from a tiny plant but I lost it a few years ago, I've been meaning to replace it ever since but still haven't got round to it. I'm so sorry to hear about Tivvy, why on earth did she need her tail amputating? Poor little thing, I do hope she makes a quick recovery, you must have all been so worried about her.

    1. The one with berriea is black mondo grass Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens', Jo. Often referred to as black grass but it is related to lilies and not a grass at all.
Tivvy had a tumour on her tail that was going to need attention but it burst meaning the op ended up as an emergency. We spent some very anxious hours as having lost so much blood the surgery was risky. The vet said it was unlikely that tumours would appear elsewhere as they removed it all. She now has a little stumpy tail and has her stitches removed tomorrow. To all outside appearances she is back to her self but I think the stitches are irritating her. Just hoping tomorrow goes OK now.

  5. Ah... I see... snap ;-) I'm loving your ferns too. I used to have many but as other plants caught my eye and being short on space my collection dwindled. I'll pretend I've still got them all looking at yours :-)
