    1. The resolution is set at 16Mp, David and the close-ups are actually cropped from the larger images. The colour is good. Interestingly when on auto if the subject is backlit (like a bright sky in a scenic shot) or dull the camera automatically takes several shots and somehow combines them to give the best image possible. It's magic

  2. I have to say that the white varieties are my favourite, but I love how the sun is catching the lilac one in the second to last photo.

    1. They are lovely flowers. Jo and will definitely be on my seed list next year although I think I may have plenty left.

  3. Cosmos is one of my favorite flower. This variety (Cosmos bipinnatus) is quite difficult to grow on middle land and low land tropics, cause they need cool weather. But the yellow cosmos (Cosmos sulphureus) will grow well on the law land and middle land tropics. I just plant this variety in my garden right now.

    1. They do, Jo. Mine were a bit late this year as I sowed direct - maybe next year I will start some in pots to get some earlier flowers.

  6. Beautiful photos Sue! I've got both these in my garden for the first time this year and they're still going strong. I'll definitely grow more net year as they're so easy and just seem to keep on flowering.

    1. We also sometimes get self sown one that produce slightly different flower colours, Jules. One year I tied coloured string round ones I wanted to collect seed from. I went on holiday and a kind plot neighbour decided to dead head them for me and chopped off the strings too!

  7. Very photogenic flowers aren't they? I've never given them a go - perhaps next year I should. From what I read, they are very reliable and last ever such a long time.

    1. Do give them a go Angie. The ones I grow are quite tall but also very ferny and so they don't create a solid block.

    1. Ours were slow to get going CJ but will persist until the first frosts. They make lovely short lived vase flowers too.

  10. Lovely shots Sue, I don't think I have any cosmos left that isn't at least partially shredded by the wind we have been having! My favourite annual, I think.

  11. Such pretty flowers, the cosmos are Sue. You've some great crops/close-ups of detail here. It's often by cropping an image that we notice elements previously not spotted.

    1. It is Shirley. It's amazing how many flower photos end up having a bug on them that you don;t notice by eye. I never realised butterflies had striped antennae 'til I took a close-up shot!

  12. Very nice pictures. They are very tough plants too. However ours died the night between Monday and Tuesday when we had our first killing frost. I should have covered them as I did the lettuce which is still doing fine.
