Dunster Castle

Recently we had a few days away in Somerset and one of the places that we visited was Dunster Castle.

The tropical garden shown below was in quite a sun trap and for early October the plants looked remarkably well.
As well as the tropical garden in which to sit and enjoy a drink, there was also a wooded walk alongside a small stream.
I overheard one of the staff telling someone that she had seen a kingfisher that morning but I'm afraid that we were out of luck.

  4. I mentioned before that we stayed just outside Dunster a few years ago, I wish we'd visited the castle now after seeing your photos. It looks more like a summer's day than an autumn one.

  5. Love that tall garden wall and iron bridge over the stream, Sue :-) I agree, this year the gardens are looking great longer with the advantage we can work in them longer too ;-) Pity you missed the Kingfisher (never seen one) but nice to hear it was there on your visit. Enjoy your weekend :-)

    1. We've had several views of kingfishers in flight, Shirl and I've looked down binoculars at one perching but my goal is to take a photo of one - as long as it's not over our pond!

  8. What a lovely place to have visited. I can imagine that Somerset in October is quite a nice place to be!
We apparently have a Kingfisher that lives along the river by my house but it's elusive too!
