Will have to take action soon!

Do you remember that I sowed some seeds produced by my indoor, seed-raised, cyclamen? I posted about it here and here.

The seedlings are growing very quickly now so I'm going to have to prick them out soon before they spoil. At the moment they look like cress. I know that already I have left them a little too long but circumstances have conspired against me, meaning that pricking out seedlings hasn't been high on my list of priorities.
Do you also remember that I sowed another pot of seeds from a capsule that I found on the carpet? It had fallen from the plant and I didn't really rate any chance of the seeds germinating. Well these seeds are just starting to germinate! If you look closely you should be able to make out several tiny pink loops. It's quite difficult to achieve a crisp photo as the camera insists on focusing on the vermiculite.

  1. At this time of year, seedlings can go leggy very quickly, can't they? I must resist the temptation (that always comes on as soon as Christmas is past) to start sowing seeds. I always do it too early and then regret it.

  3. It looks like you're going to be inundated with them, and if you're anything like me, you won't be able to compost any. I hate disposing of healthy seedlings.

  4. Looks like you will have lots of new plants in the New Year. Great to make new plants rather than buy them.

  5. I'm excited to find out what colours they turn out to be. Were these the indoor variety or the outdoor type?

    1. So am I Liz. They were the small indoor types that they sell for outdoors but when we once bought some they onlt lasted about a week as snow killed them.

  6. Well lets hope the germination rate is this good for the veggies in the seasons to come Sue. You aren't going to know where to put all these plants!!

    1. I hope so too Tanya and the number of plants is a dilemma.
